Beverly Hills Cop III (1994)

As we brace ourselves for the fourth Beverly Hills Cop movie, I took the opportunity to visit some of the spots of the franchise. The third entry is the weakest (so far) of the series. Just a decade away from the original, nothing was really working for this film and the magic was seemingly long gone. I wasn’t able to hit all the Los Angeles spots yet, but below is what I have visited so far. And no, I probably won’t be visiting the amusement park locations at California’s Great America, but if you have shots, send them my way and I’ll add ‘em!

The funeral scene was shot at Mountain View Mortuary & Cemetery at 2400 North Fair Oaks Avenue in Altadena, California. This is right next to the spot used in the pilot for Six Feet Under.

Axel drives up next to the real Beverly Hills Police Department. The entrance has gone through changes since filming, but can be found at 464 N Rexford Drive in Beverly Hills. Plus, free parking for 2 hours!

The Alien Attack ride was shot at Universal Studio’s Earthquake ride in Stage 50.

The motel was shot at the El Royale located at 11117 Ventura Boulevard in Studio City.

The series returned to the Biltmore Hotel at 506 S Grand Avenue in Downtown Los Angeles. I haven’t returned to this spot to get screen-matching shots yet.

As they drive to the pier, they go past these houses along the 1200 block of San Vicente Boulevard in Santa Monica.

This was shot at the parking lot next to the Santa Monica Pier.

Axel “escapes” around 12067 Ventura Place in Studio City, California.

Uncle Dave is shot in front of 9527 Brighton Way in Beverly Hills.

They turn the corner at 9501 Wilshire Boulevard in Beverly Hills. They then drive to the Lake View Medical Center.

Axel then goes back to Beverly Hills going into the “bar” at 280 North Rodeo Drive.

The fire scene was shot at Universal Studios, however this area was destroyed in a real fire in 2008. Below is my shot of this block, but looking in the opposite direction as seen in the film.

A few of the cast including John Saxon, Judge Reinhold, and Joe Dante.

Why was George Lucas in this film???
