I was able to catch this at the Sundance Film Festival in 2014. I was excited about the concept of recreating the lost footage cut by William Friedkin (or the censors), however, the actual film plays out of a behind-the-scenes featurette instead. While I applaud the idea, I was expecting a different result.
The film begins with some driving shots, the first at the corner on Havenhurst looking at the Chateau Marmont.
We then move to Magnolia Boulevard in Burbank, California.
Much of the film is shot inside the Shery Theatre at 11052 Magnolia Boulevard. Although I wasn’t able to go inside, a few scenes take place in the back alley. (The move even provides a map for you!)
Here is me meeting James Franco at the Sundance premiere of the film and the shirt I made.
