Dead Heat

Dead Heat (1988)

I remember seeing this my senior year of high school - a time when I would go see EVERY movie that came it seems. In 1988, we were on the tail end of the the comedy/horror mash up and this one fared pretty well over the years. I haven’t been to all of the locations yet, but thought I should post on the 35th anniversary of the movie.

On the way to the shootout, they turn the corner from Melrose to Croft Avenue in West Hollywood.

The jewelry store was located at 8471 Melrose Place.

The building behind them on the left is about the same, the one on the right is completely different now.

Here is the often used Tillman Water Reclamation Plant at 6100 Woodley Avenue in Van Nuys, California.

During my last visit, it was not open to the public for renovations, so these are some older pictures and not necessarily screen-matched.

At least the desk is still there!

This is the entrance to the plant.

From what I could tell, I think this was the pharmacy around 8222 or 8733 Beverly Boulevard, but this area has changed quite a bit.

The house is located at 1495 Queens Road in West Hollywood.

I’m not sure if they used the interiors or backyard pool of this house, but put a picture from when it was for sale for reference.

A shot of them arriving at the house at night.

A quick shot of Chinatown near Downtown Los Angeles.

In this scene they go to the Pasadena Public Library at 285 East Walnut Street in Pasadena, California.

An almost identical shot was used in Dreamscape. Here they turn the corner near 1338 Miller Drive towards Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood.

Another iconic Los Angeles location, the Hollywood Forever Cemetery.

A couple of the statues still line up after all these years!

From what I researched the morgue was originally at 2065 Zonal Avenue in Los Angeles. This area has been completely redeveloped for the USC Health Science Campus.

There used to be a long hill, likely Brittania Street) down towards this intersection. The market is at 2040 Marengo Street.
