Miracle Mile was a favorite film of mine during the college days. I spent many a late night viewing it and loved the is-it-true-or-not story. While I had been to a few locations before, last year I decided to do a true locations visit. UPDATE: Be sure to check out my friend's podcast on the film at 2nd Look Cinema!)
First up is the La Brea Tar Pits and museum. There have been some changes to the locale, but essentially the same.
A quick detour to the Santa Monica Pier merry-go-round, always a tourist favorite.
The Pan Pacific Park auditorium is long gone, but this spot remains the same and was also used in Inside Monkey Zeterland.
The May building, located at 6067 Wilshire Boulevard, and now the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures.
Down the street was the now demolished Los Angeles County Museum of Art at 5905 Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles.
Harry's hotel is the Chateau Marmont at 8221 Sunset Boulevard. Thanks to my friend, Rayen, for grabbing these shots.
While listening to the new blu ray commentary, they mentioned that the apartment balcony was filmed down the street from the diner. On my recent trip, I located it at 6060 West 8th Street, but the front is actually on the South Orange Grove Avenue side.
The central location for the film is Johnie's Coffee Shop & Restaurant at 6101 Wilshire Boulevard. Not much has changed except for the sign.

Back at the now-demolished museum is where Harry pushed Julie in the shopping cart.
This location was also used in L.A. Story.
As they exit the museum, they see the highrise building with the helipad at 5900 Wilshire Boulevard.
My friend was braver than me and went inside to take pictures of the elevator. Unlikely they shot in a real elevator anyways, but here it is.
One of my favorite location spots to find was the oh-so-80's gym, located in the back of 6024 Wilshire Boulevard. Sadly, this building was recently torn down, glad I was able to get to it in time!
The diner's final appearance in the film...
Harry and Julie make their way down Wilshire to make one last attempt to get to the helicopter. This was on the 6000 block of the street and sadly is all gone now as well.
