Today marks the 40th anniversary for Mommie Dearest, first released on September 18, 1981. A childhood cable favorite of mine, I have visited a few of the locations over the years.
First is Joan Crawford’s home. The house at 417 Amapola Lane in Bel Air provided the location for the front of the house. (The backyard and pool was at 355 South Mapleton Drive)
MGM Studios was shot on location now Sony Studios in Los Angeles.
Chadwick School was shot on location at 26800 Academy Drive in Palos Verdes Peninsula, California.
The convent was shot at Alverno High School at 200 North Michillinda Avenue in Sierra Madre, California.
Much of the film was shot on set at Paramount Studios. Not sure if this is the exact spot, but the exterior New York apartment sheet was likely shot somewhere around here.
Xander Berkeley as Christopher Crawford.
