Happy anniversary to ONE DARK NIGHT, released February 25, 1982. I visited several locations over the years and finally got a page together.
There were a couple cemeteries used for the film. Most of the mausoleum exteriors were shot at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery. Countless films and television shows have been shot here over the years and it is located at 600 Santa Monica Boulevard in Los Angeles.
The entrance to the cemetery was shot at the Angelus-Rosedale Cemetery located at 1831 West Washington Boulevard in Los Angeles.
Just up the street is Washington Tire & Wheel located at 1951 West Washington Boulevard.
Many of the mausoleum interiors were shot at Hollywood Forever Cemetery although a small set was recreated for some scenes.
The school scenes were shot in the courtyard of John Burroughs Middle School, located at 600 South McCadden Place. I couldn’t get into the school at the time for an screen matching shot however.
The murder scene was shot at 538 Wall Street. This was easily the scariest experience I’ve had when visiting a location, I don’t recommend photographing this building!
The Santa Monica Pier has greatly changed over the years and since filming.
The mansion was shot at 511 S Muirfield Road in Los Angeles. (This street also pops up during the beginning of Caddyshack.)
Carol’s house is at 153 South Norton Avenue in Los Angeles.
Julie’s house has been replaced by a McMansion but was located at 7502 North Orange Drive.
This scene was shot at the corner of Mountain View and Beverly Boulevard.
The 2nd Street tunnel in downtown Los Angeles.
