One of my favorite books in high school was Bret Easton Ellis’ The Rules Of Attraction. Although my college life wasn’t quite as dramatic, I thought he hit it pretty spot on. Some of these locations I visited nearly ten years ago, but a reader to my blog asked for an update and here it is!
A lot of the campus scenes were shot at University of Redlands at 1200 E Colton Avenue in Redlands, California. This is the Memorial Chapel building.
On the other side of the quad is the Administration Building.
Leigh Hall is actually Grossmont Hall at Redlands.
Back to the Memorial Chapel.
Booth Hall is actualy Bekins Hall at Redlands. All of these are right on the main campus quad.
Looking towards the Administration Bulding.
This is the back of the Hall of Letters, right next to the Administration Bulding.
The drug dealer’s house is at 858 3rd Avenue in Los Angeles.
Back on campus walking towards the Administration Building.
A quick shot of Memorial Hall.
Although you don’t see the front of the building, the hospital scene was shot at 12750 Erickson Avenue in Downey, California.
A lot of the interiors and a few exteriors were shot at the Rancho Los Amigos Hospital in Downey, California. Of course it’s all fenced off and looks pretty dangerous, but I was able to get this nearly matching shot at least on the 7600 block of Flores Street.
The campus entrance was shot many miles away at The Japanese Garden entrance at 6100 Woodley Avenue in Lake Balboa, California.
Returning to campus in front of the Administration Building.
Memorial Chapel again.
This amphitheater is the Alumni Greek Theater at the University of Redlands, just behind the Hall of Letters and Administration Building.
Windham Hall is actually Fairmont Hall at Redlands.
Final shot looking towards Memorial Chapel.
Clare Kramer and Thomas Ian Nicholas.
I own a few wardrobe pieces from the film.
