The fourth entry of Scream, and sadly the last directorial effort of the late Wes Craven, attempted to revitalize the franchise with the "new decade, new rules" tagline. However, nothing really was new and it ended up being a requel that didn't satisfy the horror veterans or the new crowd. While following Madonna around on tour, I went to Detroit and took advantage of the trip to visit some locations for the film.
Our first visit is when Sidney pulls up to the book store on East Main Street between Hurton Street and North Center Street in Northville, Michigan.
The bookstore is at 141 East Main Street, however the window display is actually a door.
Next we go to Gail and Dewey's house, located at 537 West Dunlap Street in Northville, Michigan.
Kirby picks up Olivia at her house located at 1005 Lincoln Avenue in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
The spot where they are taking down the ghostface masks from the light posts is on the corner of West Ann Arbor Trail and South Main Street in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Woodsboro High School is now played by Woodworth Middle School at 4951 Ternes Street in Dearborn, Michigan. They did a pretty good job trying to get the feel of the original school, extending the front and adding a few pillars to the entrance.
A few more shots of the scene where the kids are entering the school...
Gail goes to the bookstore to see Sidney...
...only to witness the start of a new chapter of killings...
The police station was a complete facade created on an empty lot between 729 and 777 West Ann Arbor Trail. Like the school, they did a great job replicating the feel of the original location. The book agent and Gail walk past the 777 building, which as you will see, was extended to the corner since filming.
In this deleted scene, you get a better shot of where the police station was located. The fountain is located in the middle of Kellogg Park. I had trouble getting exact shots as there were a lot of kids around and I didn't want them photographed.
Back to Jill's house at 1005 Lincoln Avenue in Ann Arbor, where the girls witness Olivia's murder next door...
Sidney runs from Jill's house...
to Olivia's house at 1007 Lincoln Avenue in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Back to school for this establishing shot...
Murders continue at Jill's house at 1005 Lincoln Avenue...
The nearly-finale takes place at Kirby's house at 19223 Clement Road in Northville, Michigan. This is a great big house and reminiscent of Stu's home in the original.
I wasn't able to hit every location but others include the hospital at 3890 John R Street in Detroit and the barn at 9980 Saline Waterworks Road in Manchester, Michigan.
My sisters has a few props from the film including some background lamps and vases, but the favorite one is the popcorn bucket seen in a couple scenes and Dewey's toaster from a deleted scene...
