Today marks the 60th anniversary of What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?, best known for finally putting together two Hollywood legends, Joan Crawford and Bette Davis. Recently dramatized in Feud, it was also had a remake in 1991, starring real life sisters, Lynn and Vanessa Redgrave.
Many of these location photographs were taken over a decade ago, so some things might have changed in the interim.
The Hudson sisters’ house is at 172 South McCadden Place in Los Angeles.
Their next door neighbor’s house is at 166 South McCadden Place. It was also used in Bringing Down The House (2003).
I’ve been to the house several times over the years and I’m glad it’s retained it’s appearance.
Across the street you can see the house at 171 South McCadden Place.
Edwin & Marjorie Flagg’s bungalow is located at 5267 De Longpre Avenue in Los Angeles. These were also used in the Joan Crawford film, Autumn Leaves.
Many years ago, a “fan” knew the location but was apparently holding it hostage, so I was asked to track it down and share it. :)
The theatre is on the backlot of Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank.
This was shot at the studios at 650 North Bronson Avenue.
Great Western Costume was located at the corner of Melrose and North Van Ness Avenues.
Citizen News was located at 1545 Wilcox Avenue in Los Angeles.
The “stop light” was on Beverly Boulevard near the corner of South Arden Boulevard. The house next to it has changed and is no longer visible, but the house next to it seen in the background is the same (located at 269 South Lucerne Boulevard).
The bus stop was located at the southwest corner of West 3rd Street and South Rimpau Boulevard.
The next several shots were filmed on North Larchmont Boulevard. The Lindy’s you see behind the car in the first shot was originally at 221 North Larchmont Boulevard. Later, she turns from Beverly Boulevard onto Larchmonth.
As easily seen on screen, this is at the corner of Larchmont Boulevard and Clinton Street.
This is near the corner of Council Street and North Manhattan Place, looking towards Beverly Boulevard.
The gas station is long gone but was located at 4560 Beverly Boulevard.
The finale was shot at Westward Beach in Malibu.
